Fish Tugs of the Greatest Lake ALEX C.
ALEX C. Another 35 ft. Marinette Marine stock model, equipped with a Chrysler Crown gasoline engine; owned by Russell Couture, Ontonagon, Mich. By 1956, following a gas explosion which nearly blew off the top deck, the boat was re-powered with a 4 cylinder Caterpillar diesel. In 1989, during a trip to Washington Island, the boat was observed at Jackson Harbor, still bearing her original name, and still showing the bulged-up roof that had resulted from the explosion. Photo: ALEX C. at Rowleys Bay, in Door County, Wis. in the mid-1980s.
